Hope everyone had a beautiful and food-stuffed Thanksgiving! It was so good to be back in the sunshine in my cozy old bed. And I certainly hope your travels were less eventful than mine, as Maeby threw up her breakfast and her puppy Xanax seconds before boarding the cross-country flight. She was SO good on the plane, like she always is, but she was awake and alert the entire 6 hour flight, which means that I was too. No nap for Lourdes, despite the 4:30am wake up call! Luckily, the journey back was significantly less eventful. Can't say I'm too glad to be back though; it's always hard to leave and come back to NYC, but it's been a harder adjustment this time around than it usually is. I'm hoping the sadness passes quickly.
I'm trying to distract myself by starting to plan for the upcoming holiday, and all the gift giving that's about to commence. I've mentioned before that books are my favorite gift to receive, but they're also my favorite gift to give! They're also fantastic gifts for your favorite little bookworm-- find a childhood favorite of yours that has sentimental value and get the little one in your life their own copy for you to bond over.
Here are just a few of my favorites that I could read over and over again:
Charlotte's Web by E.B. White
Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
The BFG by Roald Dahl
Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O'Dell
The Giver by Lois Lowry
Catherine, Called Birdy by Karen Cushman
Holes by Louis Sachar
From The Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg
