One of the benefits of your partner being out of town for the weekend is being able to embrace the entire beautifying process with no witnesses. Sometimes it's just nice to attend to the beauty needs without an audience! For me, this past weekend that meant applying all the masks in my possession. Multiple times. Is there anything more luxurious than lounging around watching every Harry Potter movie while your face absorbs all the goodness that a mask has to offer? Probably, but that's all I had to work with.
I know I've mentioned Glossier and their products before, but I just wanted to make sure we chat about how AMAZING the masks are. They currently only have two, but I'm hoping that as time goes on they'll get more and more because you really can't beat the quality. They're made from all good things from the earth: plants, oils, fruits and veggies. There's no creepy chemicals or preservatives, so you don't have to worry about what is seeping into your pores. They're just a touch pricier than I would normally pay, but believe me, it's worth it. You can use the masks individually, or together for optimal results. This weekend, seeing as I had plenty of pampering time, I used them together.
First, I used the Mega Greens Galaxy Pack mask. It's a thick, clay-based mask that exfoliates, draws out impurities, smooths, and firms up your skin. It smells like a cross between clay and a green juice, which I enjoy. I left it on for about 20 minutes before I rinsed it off. I always have a pinky flow after I use it, and my face feels extra clean and tight in a good way.
Then I slather on my absolute favorite, the Moisturizing Moon Mask. I use it alone very often, any time my skin is feeling dry or dull, and sometimes use it as a sleep mask! It absorbs so beautifully into your skin that you can sleep in it, wear it on flights, or go about your business with it on when you need some extra moisture. It is made of natural oils and the magical ingredient - hyaluronic acid. Your face will be very pleased if you use it. It's soothing, hydrating, refreshing and brightening. Your skin will be like, "WHAT UP BITCHES I LOOK AMAZING."
I'm almost out of the Moon Mask, and I'm going to have to pop into their summer Fridays pop-up shop to pick some up very soon, methinks. I totally by accident stumbled on their pop-up shop a couple weeks ago after brunch with my girlfriends and was able to replenish my moisturizer and get the new Coconut Balm DotCom. It's like summer on your lips. They also had this weirdo-awesome art installation that my friend and I laid in for about ten minutes. It was oddly soothing.
And for your amusement, here's a Snapchat sent to Theo while I was masking. (Because I don't actually want to do this without an audience.)
What are your thoughts on masks? I try to use them a couple times a week, and try to mix up all the different kinds I have. Go get down with your mask self and have a good week!
