Hope everyone had a good weekend! On Saturday I reached my breaking point with my hair and in a moment of desperation made a last-minute appointment and gave myself a good chop. You may remember the bad ass undercut I shaved into my head this past summer, which was beyond awesome at the time but has lately been more hideous than I could possibly explain. Half my hair was at chin length and the other half was at my shoulders. I really can't stress enough how ridiculous I've been looking these past few months. I don't regret the undercut, though! If you are thinking about doing it for the summer I highly recommend it! Totally worth the inconvenience of growing it out for a few months. I'd shave it again if it weren't such an event-and-wedding heavy year for me.
So, on top of the fact that I've been looking like a deranged rooster, I've been blow-drying and using a flatiron to make curls these past couple of months, so my poor ends were absolutely fried. I prefer to let my hair air-dry and shape it with sea salt spray and twist the ends, but it's just too cold to go to bed or to go out in the morning with wet hair. So drying and curling it is! I know I've mentioned it before, but I can't stress enough how important it is to use heat protectant any time you use heat styling products and use hair masks during the winter. And if you're a sea salt devotee the way I am, it's imperative to find a good one. I'd say that 90% of salt sprays and texturizers are super drying and toxic, and completely not worth it. I've done a good amount of experimenting and have finally come up with two that are my absolute favorites.
I hope you're taking good care of your hair these days, I know it's easy to throw a hat on and ignore it, as I have. But just as we take loving care of our skin, let's not forget our hair! Using heat protectant EVERY time you are going to style your hair is crucial, give yourself a lil mask every couple of weeks, and make sure that any styling products and texturizers you use are not drying or full of toxic chemicals that you are inhaling all day!
Here are some of my faves at different price points. Hopefully you find one that works for you!
