Hi there! Hope you all had a great weekend. I wanted to let you know about this super-informative skincare book called Skin Cleanse by Adina Grigore! She is a skincare expert and the founder of S.W. Basics, a line of organic skincare products that is one of my absolute favorites. Their products are so gentle, yet super effective. If you haven't checked it out, you should! It's even being sold at Target!
This book is so much more comprehensive than I could have imagined. We all know by now that what we put in our bodies directly affects our skin, and Grigore begins the book by giving detailed, step-by-step analysis on how specific foods, lifestyles, etc. wreak havoc on your skin. She helps you figure out exactly what it could be that is triggering your skin issues, and then gives you a reasonable solution for eliminating it and thus helping to clear your skin. It's an extremely clear and helpful guide to how what you put in your body truly affects your skin. It can be easy to disregard or not see the patterns in our food consumption, but once your eyes are opened to how it directly affects your appearance, it's hard to forget it.
She also covers what I consider to be one of the most helpful parts of the book, how to read labels, identify mystery ingredients in products, and tells you what they actually do to your skin. Demystifying those labels is so incredibly helpful, especially when you're trying to find products that skew on the natural side, as I so often do.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is having skin issues of any kind; be it redness, dryness, oiliness, acne, flakiness, or more, as it truly educates you on the ins and outs of your skin. It's got a healthy dose of easy-to-understand science that will elevate your knowledge of what's going on in your body and in your products. Even if you're not having issues, I think it's worth a read because you learn so much -- I seriously feel way more educated and qualified to make skincare decisions and know what I'm talking about now.
And if you are into DIY, the book gives plenty of recipes for homemade skincare that is cheap, effective, and will leave your skin glowing, healthy and happy! I definitely encourage you to buy this book or check it out of the library and see what you think! I'd love to hear your thoughts if you've read it. I was expecting it to be a bit of fluff, but was pleasantly surprised by how substantive and educational it was.
