How's everyone doing this week? I'm hoping that everyone is having an easy and happy hump day -- I really do hate that nickname for Wednesdays, but I suppose it's quite apt. Theo sang a concert last night (well, he sang two, but I only went to one) so I had to drag my old bones home from midtown at like, midnight. Which if you know me, I've usually already been in bed for hours at midnight on a Tuesday. But the concert was insanely awesome, and Theo was a revelation, as he always is, and I had a lovely night with my friends.
But I was thinking about how divine it would be to have a (clean) bathtub at home that I could take a late-night bath in after long days like yesterday. I'd love to fill one up with bubbles and oils and salts and all those goodies, just like when I had baths at my parents' house as a kid. Now, I do indeed currently have a bathtub, but you couldn't pay me money to take an actual bath in there. No matter how hard we scrub, we can't get rid of the last tenant's filth. ::shudder:: I mean, I know logically that it's clean because I've scrubbed and bleached it to high heaven and back, but the tub is just eternally stained and it creeps me out.
But back to kids' baths. Aside from just bubbles at bath-time, there's a whole heap of baby "beauty" products that are just so wonderful that I'd like to steal them for myself. So I thought I'd make you a tidy little list of my favorite kid's skincare products. If you take a few for yourselves, then so be it! A couple of these products won't specifically be marketed for kids, but you can bet they'll be natural and non-toxic, so whether you use it on yourself or your little guy you know they'll be safe.
Diaper rash, burns, scrapes, dry patches.
Body wash and shampoo, great orangey-vanilla scent.
Face and body lotion.
Perfume. Yes, I know putting perfume on a baby is ridic. But I love it. I still spray myself with it when I find my sister's old bottle.
It's the easiest sunscreen to get on a wriggly baby, and I love that it doesn't make me feel greasy all day when I use it on myself.
What are some of your favorite beauty products to steal from your kids? Did I miss anything tremendous? There's so much good stuff out there.
