I feel like so much has happened since I last popped up round these parts! Hello! I'm feeling very rested and have really enjoyed taking some time off of work. Not a bad way to start the summer, if I do say so myself! Hope you've been enjoying the summer sunshine as much as I have. So much has gone down the past few days, good and bad, it's a lot to process! My heart is with the LGBT community in Orlando -- when will enough be enough? Whenever tragedies like this occur it makes it feel difficult to go on writing about something as seemingly silly or superficial as beauty, but I know the best way to move forward and heal is to continue on with life. I found the NYC Gay Men's Chorus tribute to the victims to be really moving, maybe it'll help you like it helped me.
As we get back to business as usual, I figured we could start with something light: our tits! I'm not kidding you that for literal years I was like, "Oh my boobs will NEVER be saggy, that just won't happen to ME!" LOLZ, HAHAHA, GOOD ONE, YOUNG LOURDES. There is literally no fighting it, and luckily these days I find it more hilarious than anything else. Nothing says, "You're a grown woman," like having to fold your tits into your bra every morning. So in recent years, I've become a devotee of neck and chest creams, which for years I figured was just a scam. And yes, any creams that promise to firm or change your chest are obviously a load of shit, but I think treating my neck and chest area with the same kindness I treat my eye skin seems only reasonable!
I'm a lifelong stomach sleeper, so I wake up with some pretty deep chest wrinkles these days, which is a bummer but also like, whatever I'll live. They usually disappear within a few hours anyways for the most part. That said, they've definitely been lingering longer lately, and I'd really rather not have the chest of a 60 year-old who spent the 80s dancing in a White Snake music video. (At least not yet!) So I've been taking extra care to slather on a ton of sunscreen on my chest and neck, even if I don't plan on being in the sun.
When I was in high school I read an article about a Vogue beauty editor who was so swamped in beauty samples that she used La Mer cream on her hands and feet. I was impressed and horrified by the audacity to do so! It seemed the height of opulence. I have clearly not gotten over it after all these years. And yet, here I am a few decades later and am living my own version of this Marie Antoinette-style ridiculousness. It's not as decadent as La Mer, but a while back I found myself to have a surplus of Kiehl's Rose Arctica Lightweight Cream and have been using it as neck and chest cream every night. It's ridiculously decadent, and when I run out of it I'm not going to replenish my supply for boob-purposes, but for now I'm really enjoying this little dose of luxury that makes me feel like a super fancy lady.
I've used Lush's Lovely Jubblies before and I absolutely love it. It smells like heaven and is super hydrating, I am looking forward to buying some when it's time to return to a more cost-effective method. Pro-tip: I also slather Lovely Jubblies on my arms and butt for some nice firming action. (Old lady flap arm is REAL, you guys! Doesn't seem to matter how many push-ups I do!) I totally recommend picking some of this up for your lovely lady lumps! (Kill me now.)
I'm curious if using a neck and chest cream is part of your routine! If it isn't, it should be! Would love to hear your recommendations! What are you putting on your tits these days?
